What are chakras

Chakras were introduced into the west in 1918 when two translations of the Indian text were made by Sir John Woodroffe he was popularly known by his other name Arthur Avalon.
He translated “the Sat-Cakra Nirupama and the “Paduka-Panacaka” into a book titled the serpent of power.
The Sat-Cakra- Nirupama was written in 1577 by Swami Purnananda while Paduka-Pancake was written in the 10th century.
The texts gave rise to the birth and study of chakras in the western world.

The majority of these publications states that there are seven chakras, others proposed to propose 12 chakras while Amit Ray’s claim that there are over 114 chakras in the human body.
