Ever suffered from an allergy? I’m sure that was a very unpleasant and uncomfortable experience.
There are a lot of symptoms associated with allergies; including digestive disorders, fatigue, a decline in memory functioning, respiratory disorders, and headache.
Allergic reactions are extremely hard to deal with. If you experience weakness, mental fatigue, generalized body weakness, or an inability to maintain alertness.

Just like the name implies, food allergy occurs as a result of the consumption of certain food substances.
The immune system reacts in an unpleasant manner, period food allergy is also known as food hypersensitivity, chronic cases can last for years.

There are different symptoms of an allergy and sinus fatigue is an example of an allergic reaction.

Allergies can prevent you from falling or staying asleep, this can make you tired during the day.
To prevent this, you need to;
- Clean your bedroom regularly, ensure that you wash your bedding.
- Your furniture should be dust-free.
- During the day, keep your doors and windows closed.
- Your bedroom should be a no-pet zone.
Can covid-19 symptoms feel like allergies?
The symptoms of coronavirus are quite similar to that of an allergic reaction.
For this, it can be difficult to differentiate between these two illnesses. However, there are certain distinguishing factors you can use to differentiate coronavirus from an allergy.
An allergy is typically caused by allergens or irritant substances(dust mites, pollen). It can be mild or severe, occur in seasons, or last for a year.
Symptoms of an allergy include;
- Itchy nose and ears.
- Runny nose.
Covid-19 is a viral infection, the symptoms manifest within 2-14 days, they include;
- Dry cough
- Loss of smell
- Shortness of breath
Note: a vaccinated person can still test positive to Covid-19.
The differences between an allergy and Covid-19
- Allergies cause itching However this is not a symptom of coronavirus
- Covid-19 will not respond to allergy medication.
- Allergies occur seasonally and can last for a year.
- Covid-19 causes fever, this is present in an allergic reaction.
What are the worst allergy symptoms?
Earlier, I clearly stated that an allergy can be mild or severe. Why is this?
Mild allergies can be a product of mild allergens including pollens, dust mites, and mold. Severe allergies are caused by more severe allergens including pet dander, food(soy, wheat, eggs), or medicine such as penicillin.
Mild allergy symptoms include; runny nose, nausea, stomach cramps, itchy nose or ears, and rashes.
Severe allergy symptoms include allergic asthma and anaphylaxis.
This condition occurs as a result of the information of certain structures in the lung. This causes swelling that blocks or obstructs airflow.
This is an allergic reaction to food or medication, symptoms include; low pulse, rash, and anaphylactic shock. This is a life-threatening situation that can lead to death without urgent medical attention.
How long do seasonal allergies last?
This is a trick question, it’s not quite easy to answer like do allergies make you tired?
The perfect answer to this question is; it depends on what you are allergic to. The truth is allergens run throughout the year.
If it isn’t the pollen season, then it is mold, grass, or spores.
If you are allergic to dust mites which are available all year long, this simply means allergic reaction all year long.
Let’s talk about seasonal allergies like pollens, grass, etc.
Typically allergy seasons begin when trees start sprouting(forming buds).
In the US specifically; Spring(Pollen allergies) starts in February and lasts till Summer.
Grass allergies last all summer
There may be variations based on your geographical location.
Can allergies cause an off-balance feeling?

Then this could be a problem of the inner ear.
The inner is responsible for maintaining balance, however, an allergic reaction can also affect the ear.
Nasal congestion is a common condition during an allergic reaction, in some cases, it can cause swelling in the eustachian tube.
This reduces inner ear pressure which makes you feel faint or light-headed.
How do you stop allergies immediately?
Prevention is better than cure, you can take certain preventive measures to reduce your exposure to certain allergy triggers.
Preventive measures include;
- If you have a pollen allergy, do not stay outside for a long period. The best time to stay out will be after a good rainfall.
- Remove the clothes you wore outside immediately you step inside your house. Ensure that you wash them.
- Stay away from activities that can expose you to allergens.
- Ensure that your furniture is dust-free.
- Don’t spread your laundry outside.
Over the counter remedies for allergies
- Oral antihistamine
Medicines like Alavert and Claritin can relieve mild symptoms like sneezing, runny nose, and itching.
This Is a great choice to relieve a stuffy nose. You should only use it for a few days as excessive usage can worsen the symptoms.
- Nasal spray
Works better if it is used before the onset of the allergic reaction. It is useful in relieving the effect of symptoms.

The best way to reduce tiredness is to have proper hours of rest.
Get rid of allergens present in your bedding and apply other listed guidelines. This will ensure that you sleep properly and reduce tiredness.
