  1. Brightens your teeth

Baking soda works as a mild abrasive to remove yellow stains from the teeth. It also helps remove plaque by neutralizing acids produced by the bacteria. Baking soda also has strong antibacterial and antimicrobial properties that make it an excellent mouth wash.

To enjoy the benefits of baking soda for your teeth, using a toothpaste that contains baking soda is advised. Or you can make a small amount of paste with baking soda and water then dip your toothbrush in it before brushing.

For mouth wash benefit, put ½ teaspoon of baking soda in half a glass of water, swish it around your mouth and spit it out as you do with a mouth wash.

  1. Clears acne and pimples:

Baking soda possesses antibacterial, exfoliating, and anti-inflammatory properties that can reduce re-occurring pimples and acne.

Tip: Unadulterated baking soda is of a higher concentration and is therefore too harsh for the skin.

Preferably, mix 1 – 2 tablespoons of the compound with a gentle facial cleanser. Mix warm water to turn it into a paste-like consistency and apply on affected areas for 10 – 15 minutes before washing off.

Tips: Dissolve 2½ teaspoons of baking soda in half a cup of water and apply to affected areas.

Baking soda has a soothing effect due to its alkaline nature. This soothing effect it brings helps relieve burning sensations. Its antiseptic and drying properties enable it to dry out sunburn blisters quickly.

Tip: Mix 1 – 2 tablespoons of baking soda in a cup of cold water, apply as a cool compress on the affected area for 5 to 10 minutes.
